Current and Future Thunderbirds Shining on the Soccer Pitch Add Comment    Aug 06, 2010

CEDAR CITY, Utah - June 16 - Southern Utah women's soccer is looking bright for the future as current and incoming student-athletes are performing well at the club level during the summer.

2010 signees Kristy Baron (Hunter HS) and Megan Mower (Lone Peak HS) helped the Utah Avalanche '92 to a state cup championship.  The duo will now continue on with the team to compete at the club regional level.

Members of the Utah Avalanche '91 (Morgan Bridge, Rachel Krenzer, Breana Fitzgerald) just missed out on a Utah state cup title, finishing second in the state.  However the team did have a strong enough season to warrant an at-large berth to the regional tournament.

"It is a huge boost to our program that we have so many players getting matches over the summer," head coach Brian Stock said.  "These guys have worked hard and we are proud of them and their accomplishments. This is one indication of the level of players that want to be a part of the Thunderbird soccer family and we wish them good luck as they head to Regionals."

The women's soccer team will begin its 2010 campaign with a home exhibition match when the Thunderbirds host the UNLV Rebels on Saturday, August 14.
