Pelaez-Mailoto Named Conference Offensive Player of the Week Add Comment Sep 26, 2011
CEDAR CITY, Utah - Sept. 26 - Southern Utah University's Analaine Pelaez-Mailoto has been named the Summit League Offensive Player of the Week after averaging more than 20 kills per game for the Thunderbirds last week. The honor is her second of the year and fifth of her career.
The Hooper, Utah native recorded 64 kills over Southern Utah's three games last week, including a season-high 27 kills in the Thunderbirds' five-set victory at Western Illinois last Friday. Pelaez-Mailoto averaged close to five kills per set (4.92) and finished her week with back-to-back double-doubles with 27 kills and 13 digs at Western Illinois and 20 kills and 12 digs at IUPUI. She also tallied four service aces, including the game-winner in Macomb.
Pelaez-Mailoto and the rest of the Thunderbirds will be at home this weekend as the team continues Summit League play with conference matches against Oakland and IPFW in the Centrum Arena.
