SUU T&F - Thunderbird Track & Field adds UCLA Transfer Kayla Kovar Add Comment Aug 12, 2010
CEDAR CITY, Utah - Aug. 11 - Southern Utah track and field head coach Eric Houle announced the addition on UCLA transfer Kayla Kovar to the list of 2010-11 signees.
Kovar competed for the Bruins during the 2009-10 season, originally signing out of Burroughs High School in Ridgecrest, Calif. where she was a four-time Desert Sky League champion in the shot put and discus. In addition, Kovar was a four-time CIF qualifier in the discus while finishing fifth at the CA State meet in 2009 and 2007 and third in 2008. She holds a pair of school records at Burroughs where she threw 43-8.50 in the shot put and 157-8 in the discus.
"This is a big signing for us," Houle said of the addition. "She is coming to us from a big program, but was impressed with what we had to offer here at SUU. I think her signing speaks very highly of our program and she will be a great help for us at both the conference and national levels."
