CEDAR CITY, Utah - June 4 - A band of Southern Utah women's soccer players are using the summer to hone their skills as a group of seven student-athletes are competing in the Women's Premier Soccer League.  The league is comprised of both current and former collegiate players and former U.S. National team members.

The seven players are dispersed over three teams with Charly Booth, Stacey Brinkman, Allyson Duda and Michelle Judd each playing for FC St. George.  Emily Belnap and Nikki Packham are playing for the Utah Starzz and Katie Saxton is playing for the Arizona Rush.

The Starzz have already picked up the first victory on the season, capturing a 3-0 win at FC St. George on May 28.  The loss for FC St. George was the first of two this season for the team, falling 3-0 to Salt Lake City Sparta at home on May 31.

The WPSL is an independent national league whose main focus is on the development of highly competitive amateur women's soccer teams, according to the WPSL's website.  The league is comprised of 55 teams, stretching from California to Maine and Wisconsin to Texas.
