Team Riley or Team Jacob? The BYU QB Love Triangle Is Finally Over! Add Comment Sep 26, 2010
And yes I did just reference Twilight in a football article! Is that bad? The truth in the matter is I hate the series just as much as I can't stand BYU football. However, I was begining to wonder why the co-QB system had lasted so long. Whether Riley getting surgery was a blessing in disguise or not, it finally put an end to an even more annoying start to an embarrasing season for the cougars. I will never be a fan of the whole "quarterback by committee," even if it was driving the team down south straight into the ground.
The fact of the matter is Heaps is the Cougars big man on campus and as much as I hate to see steps being made in the right direction for BYU it's about time. After losing 27-13 against Nevada on saturday it might be a bit hard to see the sivler lining. But whether Bronco hates admitting it or not, it is for the better of the program. When the Utes started Cain last season over Wynn, I wasn't disspointed because I thought Wynn was better, I was dissapointed because a young QB can't grow without experience, and sitting Wynn just seemed counter productive.
Heaps will be fine at Quarterback he just needs time to settle in. Brace yourself for some growing pains BYU fans, but as much as i hate to say this, things will get better now that 1/3 of the way through the season, the cougars can start to unite under one offense and not juggle trying to gameplan with 2 very different quarterbacks.
