University of Utah Basketball vs. UNLV Add Comment    Mar 05, 2011

Today I took my two son's to their first NCAA basketball game.  My boy's are eight and five (almost six).  Their first experience, a total let down.  About half way thorough he first half, Utah had more blocked shots than baskets.  And in the second half, my eight year old son posed a very interesting question to me.  So, to understand the question, my two boys just finished up Junior Jazz.  At their age group, they are not allowed to steal from a player who has possession of the ball, they can only steal a pass.  So to the question.  My son taps my leg and says, "Dad, are our basketball players allowed to steal the ball?  I told him yes they are, that this is not junior jazz and they can steal the ball.  Well, aside from the laughs from the people around me who thought it was a very "cute" question, I asked him why he asked that.  He says, "Well, if they can steal the ball, why are they not trying." That interaction sums up the game tonight.

UNLV looked like they showed up to get a tan, they were relaxed and in all honesty, had no pressure the entire game.  It was like taking candy from a baby.  Utah looked out played, out manned and even, and I will say without issue, definitely out coached.  Utah has problems, they have no leadership and the only semblance of an offense that I can see them running is the "Alan Iverson".  Weird to watch the 7' 3" center stand back at the other end when either team would shoot a free throw.  What is that about?  He shoudl be getting rebounds.

If there were 4001 fans in attendance, I would be shocked.  The place was empty, quiet and, well there seemed to be more Utah cheerleaders than fans there.  One highlight, was the band, they sounded really good.

Ok Dr. Hill.  Let's get Utah back to what the banners show we are, and let the coaching staff go along with the players that will go with him.  Let's cut our losses and get a real coach, not a nice guy!
