Men's Basketball Awarded Summit League Team Academic Achievement Award Add Comment Aug 06, 2010
CEDAR CITY, Utah - July 8 - SUU men's basketball has been awarded the Summit League Academic Achievement Award after carrying the best team GPA among men's basketball squads in the conference last year.� The Thunderbirds finished last season with a cumulative average just over a 3.0 to earn the award.�
"I'm extremely proud of our men's basketball program, both coaches and players, for having made such a commitment to academics," SUU athletic director Ken Beazer said.� "The team is definitely moving in the right direction when it comes to the classroom."�
The team was led by Brian Cameron with a GPA close to 3.85 and was followed by Jake Nielson (3.466) and Davis Baker (3.449) as the top scholars.� The men's basketball was also a key contributor to Southern Utah finishing second in the Summit League tabulating cumulative GPA's among all sports (3.185).
