Jacob Wayman Named MCLA Scholar Athlete Add Comment Aug 06, 2010
SALT LAKE CITY Westminster mens lacrosse player Jacob Wayman was named a Scholar Athlete by the MCLA. He becomes the first Griffin in the history of the program to receive this recognition.
The MCLA Scholar Athlete Award recognizes academic and on-field excellence each season. MCLA Scholar Athlete recognition is given to players who were selected to their First or Second All-Conference team and maintained a minimum overall cumulative GPA for the last completed semester/quarter of 3.20 or better on a 4.00 scale.
Wayman was named a Third Team All-American at midfield. The 5-11 junior from Coeur dAlene, Idaho scored 15 goals during the season and led the team with 23 assists. His 38 total points was second on the team and his assist total was fourth in the RMLC.
Westminster completed a 13-8 2010 season and advanced to the semi-finals of the MCLA National Championship. They won the RMLC West Division championship and advanced to the RMLC championship game for a fourth consecutive season.
